When Randy Jacobs was a boy growing up, showing horses was a family affair.
Weekends usually found the Jacobs' enjoying themselves at an Appaloosa Horse Show
where they found great competition, but more importantly many lasting friendships. The
satisfaction that Randy got out of those horse shows was something that he could not get
enough of; therefore, he grew up to become a professional at something that was once
just a fun family hobby.
It was in 1990 that Randy decided to begin his own business known as Jacobs
Show Horses, Inc. in Dover, Ohio. Randy initially enjoyed great success showing mainly
Appaloosas. He has had numerous National Champions in addition to Amateur and Open
World Championships. Although Randy still enjoyed the Appaloosa breed, the popular
Quarter Horse industry began knocking at his door.
Over the last ten years Randy has primarily shown Quarter Horses. The Quarter
Horse industry has been good to Randy as well. He has to his credit numerous Congress
and World Champions in Youth, Amateur, and Open competition. He has also hauled
several halter horses to win National Titles in Youth, Amateur and Open Divisions.
In 1996 a breeding facility was added to the Jacobs' property and since then
breeding and foaling mares has become an important priority throughout the winter
months. During the winter Randy also enjoys coaching the varsity wrestling team at his
local high school.
Randy is a lifetime member of AQHA and a member of the Professional
Horsemen. He was on Team Wrangler for 2003 and is a member again for 2004.
Randy gets a great deal of support from his family which consists of his wife,
Holli and their four children, Garrett, Dustin, Molli, and Randy Jr. (RJ). Holli is a school
teacher, but loves to attend horse shows every chance she gets. Two of the Jacobs'
children have also shown an interest in the horse field. In the past Garrett showed halter
horses and had a Reserve Youth World Champion along with several Congress Youth
Champions. The year 2000 was Molli's first year to show. She ended the year winning
the High Point Youth Halter Gelding and also the Justin Rookie 11 and Under title. At
the present time Molli is enjoying the riding competition, but still shows halter horses to
keep her daddy happy.
Randy feels very fortunate to be able to do what he loves most on a day to day
basis, which is working with horses and people. He is very dedicated to what he does and
is committed to giving whatever it takes to get his horses looking their very best. It is his
desire to continue to strive and achieve new goals along with treating his customers with
fairness and respect.
